TinyTip Reference Guide - Vanilla World of Warcraft Addon

TinyTip lets you customize the look and functionality of the game tooltip. Perhaps the most common use for this is repositioning the tooltip so it appears wherever your cursor is. So when you mouseover an enemy, the information appears right there instead of having to look in the corner all the time.

It is a very modular so that other addons can add information to the tooltip. As a consequence, the base functionality is actually in three separate addons, hence the odd downloads below.

For many more useful addons, check out my Vanilla World of Warcraft Addon Guide or World of Warcraft: Classic Addon Guide.

World of Warcraft: Classic Compatibility

Installing

Extract the downloaded files and drag the TinyTip, TinyTipExtras and TinyTipOptions folders into the Interface/AddOns folder in your World of Warcraft game folder.

How to Use

Once it is installed, enter /tinytip in the chat window to bring up the options menu. This is a very customizable addon.

  • Anchoring

    • Sets where on the screen the tooltip is displayed when you mouseover something. For a lot of people, this is the only thing they need from the addon. It lets you place the tooltip where your cursor is, which is a great feature.
  • Text

    • What information is displayed on a character tooltip. You can show the PvP Rank, level, guild, race and creature type and more.
  • Appearance

    • You can change the size and coloring. It can change the background and border color of the tooltip if a character is hostile, for example.
  • Target Of…

    • This can show some very helpful information. When in a party or raid, you can see how many people are targeting that unit and even the names of all those people.
  • Extras

    • You can show or hide extra information that other addons provide. You can show the buffs and debuffs on a unit in the tooltip, the PvP rank icon, the Raid Target icon and add a mana status bar under a unit's tooltip.
