Best RENNSPORT Settings for Thrustmaster TX / T300

RENNSPORT has been officially released. It's another serious racing simulator, along the lines of Assetto Corsa Competizione or Automobilista 2. There are a lot of issues with the game, but the basic driving physics and force feedback is actually pretty good.

The Thrustmaster TX and T300 work very well with it. The force feedback conveys a lot of information and it rarely clips. The default settings are little heavier than I like, but that is easy to fix.

In this guide, I will show you how to adjust the settings in the Thrustmaster Control Panel and in the game itself to get the best experience with a wheel.

Thrustmaster Control Panel Settings

RENNSPORT automatically sets the proper steering angle for each car, so it is best to leave the rotation set to the maximum in the Thrustmaster Control Panel and calibrate the wheel in-game.

Setting Value
Rotation 900° (TX) 1080° (T300)
Overall Strength of all forces 100%
Constant 100%
Periodic 100%
Spring 100%
Damper 100%
BOOST Off
Auto-Center by the game

Spring and Damper are not used by RENNSPORT, so the value actually doesn't matter. Some games require these to be on for their force feedback to work, so I keep them at 100% as a general rule.

BOOST should always be turned off. For an in-depth look as to why, see my BOOST Force Feedback Analysis.

RENNSPORT Settings

In Options > Controls > Driving > Wheel and Pedals:

You need to bind the steering, pedals and buttons. Use the Quick Wheel Setup and Quick Pedal Setup to get them set up easily.

In Options > Controls > Force Feedback > Wheel Base:

Setting Value
Forces Strength 100
Invert Force Feedback On
Filter 2
Sensitivity 135
Minimum Force 3
Tick Rate 400
FFB Clipping Point Offset 0.00

Forces Strength is the overall strength. You can set this to 100 without any issues.

Invert Force Feedback needs to be set to On for these wheels.

Filter smooths out the force feedback. You can keep this fairly low, but you may want to adjust this based on the track. Raise this if you have any excessive vibrations that you want to quiet.

Sensitivity will raise or lower the lighter forces. If you raise this above 100, the lighter forces will be strengthened. If you lower this below 100, the lighter forces will be weakened. In practice, this adjusts the weight of the wheel.

Minimum Force sets the minimum strength of any force. These wheel can't reproduce tiny forces, so raising this a little will make those forces able to be felt.

Tick Rate should be 400. This option only exists for some specific wheels that can only update at a slower frequency.

FFB Clipping Point Offset can be adjusted if the force feedback is clipping. This hasn't been an issue, so it can be left at 0.

Conclusion

While RENNSPORT has a solid foundation, it seems the overall game development didn't reach its full potential. That's a shame, but there are still plenty of other excellent simulators out there to play instead.
